The parents as active and main partners in the project: Integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen” have a key role in creating and realizing numerous regular and afterschool activities.
At the same time, they play the role of our direct link with the local environment and that is why they also have the role of collaborators, guides, evaluators and promoters of the project and its benefits.
The parents should be animated and motivated to undertake a partner role in defining the characteristics of an effective and creative primary school refined with the bilingual component as its quality characteristic.
Also during this school year (2009/2010), several activities have been planned for the parents and special attention will be paid to overcoming the stereotypes related to gender roles. This way, there would be a direct impact on the female part of the parent population and gradual undertaking initiative and responsibilities in the active monitoring of the overall development of the children from their side.
Part of the planned activities also include cooperation with the broader family which will enable the spontaneous bond and introducing the families with various ethnic, linguistic, religious, cultural characteristics and values, but also with creating a positive attitude about the project, as well.
For the purpose of developing and deepening, as well as strengthening the mutual trust between: the school – the expert team – the management of the school – the parents, it is planned to implement several educational and creative workshops that will treat different topics in direct correlation with the phases, stadiums in the psychomotor and social development of the children.
With such approach to these complex issues, it will be possible to convince the parents about the importance of careful monitoring of the overall development of the children, as well as to detect and utilize the potentials of the zone of the current and future development of each child.
Several benefits will be indicated at the same time, but also the importance of the individual approach adjusted to the development characteristics of the children.
Parents as important partners in the continuous implementation of this type of education will be at the same time encouraged and supported in the voluntary involvement during the whole academic year.
All abovementioned characteristics of the planned cooperation with the parents will help at the same time in building an effective and efficient primary school – which is a common goal of all involved subjects.
Improving the cooperation and faith of the parents in the school and the team of teachers;
Promoting an active role of the parents in the creation, presentation and evaluation of the regular and afterschool activities;
Encouraging the self-initiative of the parents, especially of the mothers, as important factor in the active monitoring of the overall development of the children;
Strengthening the collaborative relations between parents with different ethnic, religious and cultural background;
Deepening the life skills of the parents, as well as creating habits for them about continuous self-education;
Encouraging the self-confidence of the parents, as well as the positive attitude towards other members of the group.

The selection of activities has been made in correlation with the planned activities within the ethno, eco, artistic drama section, as well as according to the program situations included in the Program for education for peace and tolerance (which are planned for the students in first grade) and in correlation with the planned extracurricular activities in second grade given within the artistic, drama, traffic, mathematics and in the section: Little researchers).
