(26.02, 2010) On 26.02.2010, in the regional IBPS “Fridtjof Nansen” in the village Preljubiste, a workshop named “Flowers for my mother” has been held due to the forthcoming holiday, 8th of March.
In this workshop, 25 mothers and 4 teachers from this school took part.
The purpose of this workshop is that the mothers of both ethnic communities get to know each other, spending time together, cooperation in terms parent – parent, teacher – parent, overcoming the stereotypes and prejudices of the mothers and helping with the creations necessary for the screen writing for the forthcoming event. The purpose of the workshop has been realized in a pleasant setting.
(28.12, 2009) Due to the coming New Year and the end of the first half of this school year, a New Year performance has been organized on 28.12.2009 in IDOU “Fridtjoj Nansen”.
The New Year’s performance consisted of recitals and singing New Year songs by the students and it has been also enriched with a drama play in which Santa Clause, a fairy and a clown have participated. The drama play has contributed this performance to be much more interesting for the students and their parents who have attended the performance.
At the end of the performance, all students have received New Year bags with chocolates and candies from Santa Clause and in return they have given Santa Clause a kiss and a hug.
(01 - 06.12, 2009) Part of the teachers and parents of the students from the second generation who attend the integrated bilingual school in the village Preljubiste, Jegunovce Municipality, have made a study visit to the Kingdom of Norway from 1st till 6th of December, 2009.
The purpose of this visit was for the parents and teachers to get familiar with the educational system of Norway, to exchange experiences how the schools are functioning, the conditions in which they are operating, the quality of the teaching programs and the involvement of the minority groups in the Norwegian educational system.
The group had an opportunity to visit the primary schools “Sore Al” in Lillehammer and “Toyen” in Oslo, as well as the National Center for Multicultural Education in Oslo.
The parents have attended a performance in “Sore Al” school in Lillehammer, organized by the students. After that, they had an opportunity to directly follow part of the realization of the teaching and also the Director of the school has introduced the parents with the way the school is functioning and the role of the parents in this school.
In the primary school “Toyen” in Oslo, the parents through attending part of the teaching classes and meeting with the school management have learned about the biggest multiethnic school in Norway which is attended by 25 different ethnic communities The visit to this school has been a good opportunity to see how both languages in the teaching are being used – the mother tongue and the official (the Norwegian), also the methods, the methodology and the skills for bilingualism which are being used by the teachers when working with the students.
Part of the teachers has also visited the National Center for Multicultural Education in Oslo, where their hosts have informed them about the goals of the Strategic plan and the way and methodology of its operating. NDC Skopje team and the teachers have received the curriculum and teaching programs that are being applied in the multilingual and bilingual schools in Norway.
The experience from this visit is of a great importance for the teachers, parents and the future development of the project “Integrated bilingual primary school” which is being realized in Jegunovce Municipality.
(13.11, 2009) Ambassador Erwan Fouere on 13 November 2009 together with his coworkers visited the first integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen” in the village of Prelubishte, municipality of Jegunovce.
During the visit, the Ambassador Fouere met the students, the staff of the school and the representatives of the NGO Nansen Dialogue Centre – Skopje which is the implementing organization of the project “Integrated bilingual primary school Fridtjof Nansen”.
The main goal of the visit was informing the ambassador with more details regarding the methodology used for implementation of bilingualism and integration in the educational process as well as briefing him with a general introduction about the school itself which is the only school of this kind in the Republic of Macedonia.
It is worth mentioning that H.E. Erwan Fouere expressed his gratitude for visiting our school and gave institutional support in the name of the Mission of the European Union towards IBPS “Fridtjof Nansen”.
(02.11, 2009) On 02 November, a meeting has been held with the parents of all students from first and second grade.
On the meeting, several new members of the school Parents’ Council, (addition of parents of the students from the new generation) have been elected and the dates for beginning of the IT courses intended for the parents (mothers and fathers) have been also set.
NDC Skopje has informed the parents that in the period from 01-05 December, a study visit to Norway will be organized for the parents of the students in first grade.
(09.10, 2009) Due to celebration of the children’s week, a one-day excursion has been organized and realized on 09.10.2009 in Skopje.
On this excursion, 35 students, 4 teachers and 2 representatives from NDC Skopje took part and we have all visited Skopje Fortress and the children’s playroom “Tikvicka”.
These were the goals of this excursion:
- Learning about the cultural and historical treasure in Macedonia and the landmark on Skopje Fortress.
- Respecting the cultural treasure of the other ethnic community, but also cultivating and respecting their own cultural and historical heritage.
- Teaching the children about the basis of socially acceptable behavior in public places.
- Promoting the right of the child to play.
- Keeping the toys and having a careful relation with them.
- Applying the new knowledge about safe movement in the traffic.
This excursion has been realized in a positive socio-emotional climate in the group with high degree of cooperation between the students, although this has been first experience of such type for more than half of the participants.
(29.10, 2009) On 29 October, Mr. Tor Halgesen – Director of the primary multiethnic school Toyen in Oslo, Norway, has visited the school.
Halgesen had an opportunity to learn about the annual plans and programs of the school and about the practical implementation of bilingualism in the teaching.
Together with NDC Skopje team and the employees of the school, the opportunities for future joint cooperation i.e. exchanging experiences between both schools has been taken into consideration.
During the visit, Mrs. Bente Knagenhjlem, a representative of Nansen Network’s Management in Norway was also present.
(05.10, 2009) On 05 October, the newly designated Ambassador of the Kingdom Norway, Kjetil Paulsen H.E., has visited the school.
Mr. Paulsen has been informed about the project that is being realized in this school and that is completely financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom Norway.
During his visit to the school, the Ambassador has held a brief meeting with part of the parents whose children study in this school. The parents have expressed their satisfaction with the successful implementation on this project and have confirmed the support for extending this project in future.
(01.09, 2009) The first school day in this school has been attended by last year’s first grade students who are now attending lectures in the second grade, but also on this day the school bell rang for the new generation of first grade students in this school, as well.
Before the beginning of the class, a short speech has been held by the Director of the Central school Burhan Ejupi, the Director of the Nansen Network on the Balkans Prof. Steinar Bryn and the Executive Director of NDC Skopje, Saso Stojkovski.
The students in the second grade have held a short performance for the future first grade students and present guests: the Mayor, representatives of BRO Tetovo and the parents of the students. After the performance, they have formally invited their friends – first grade students to enter together the “World of children”, i.e. in the school.
(15.06, 2009) Due to the successful completion of the school year of the first generation of students in the Integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen”, a gathering with the parents has been organized in Jegunovce Municipality for the purpose of awarding certificates to the students. The teachers have informed the parents about the achieved success and results from the realization of the programs for formal and informal education of both classes in the school. The parents have expressed their satisfaction to be part of this project and that they are very happy with the way the school is functioning, the quality of the teaching and the significant changes they have noticed in their children. The parents had an opportunity to attend the final students' show which has been a result of the 9-month activities of the teachers with their students.
